The Creative Curriculum

Thelma B. Pittman uses the Creative Curriculum to guide our students in demonstrating positive approaches to learning and connects students to a rich and engaging experience. This curriculum helps and supports children to become independent, self-confident, inquisitive and enthusiastic learners by actively exploring their environment. The curriculum identifies goals in all areas of development: Social/Emotional, Cognitive, Physical and Language. Through careful and thoughtful planning, our teachers are trained to imbed the Florida Early Childhood Standards throughout the curriculum, so children benefit from best practices.

Fabulous Four Year Olds

Teachers provide your child with phonics activities, math projects, reading readiness activities, both whole and small group work that will provide your child with the skills that will elevate them and enrich their lives. They are given homework as well so that you as their parent will see a glimpse of what they are learning and need to know to be successful in VPK. Learning centers are used to target specific skills. The teacher is has certifications in using and  implementing The Creative Curriculum.

Terrific Threes

Our Three year old program focuses on and provides your child with the independent needs of children. Our teacher uses the Florida Standards imbedded in the Creative Curriculum Teaching Strategies program to guide their teaching. The teacher also uses phonemic awareness experiences to enhance your child’s learning. Math, Science and Social Studies activities engage your children throughout the day.

Tremendous Two’s

Our Two year old program uses developmentally appropriate practices designed to allow your child to explore and discover new things. As they spend time in a safe and caring environment, they are learning new things everyday. The classroom is designed in such a way that toys, books, and artifacts are in easy reach of their small hands. The program includes singing, story time, outdoor time, fine arts time as well as movement and dance time.

Tiny Toddler Program

A caring and nurturing environment is provided for our youngest students.

In our toddler Program we focus on supporting social interactions with your child’s classmates/friends in a group setting. Art projects for small hands, movement, sharing, expressing wants and needs are always encouraged.

Since this may be the first time your child is in a school setting and being around new people, parents are encouraged to drop off your child in the classroom to make the transition seamless.

FREE VPK

We prepare your children for Kindergarten using the Creative Curriculum aligned with the Florida Voluntary Pre-Kindergarten Standards. Using these programs ensures your children are getting a high quality education, in a safe and secure environment. The VPK class is lead by a certified instructor. Ongoing assessments and observations are conducted to make sure each child meets the standards and no child gets left behind. We meet students on their entry level and monitor progress throughout the year. Scheduled parent – teacher conferences are held in the fall and the spring. Weekly lesson plans guarantee that students participate in activities that develop skills in the following:

·        Approaches of Learning

·        Language, Communication & Emergent Literacy

·        Cognitive Development and General Knowledge

·        Social and Emotional Development

·        Physical Development

The VPK Classroom also has a State of the Art Computer lab. Students have daily opportunities to work and explore subjects that are being studied, as well as areas of interest.
